Mid-Week Rules

 
  1. Team fee $300.00 payable to Midweek League Treasurer at start of season. Laws of Cricket to apply where not covered below.
  2. Games start promptly at 6pm & teams will play all others twice, the home team to prepare ground, mark run-up and supply ball.
  3. Dress: All white or matching shirts and white trousers. It is the captain's responsibility to insist on the dress code for his team.
  4. Teams shall consist of 9 players - listed to opposing captain prior to start of game upon request. Each side will receive 16 overs of 6 balls.
  5. No team shall include more than 1 w/e league player featured in '04 statistics or anyone who has represented BC or Canada in 2003 or 2004.
  6. Bowlers limited to 3 overs each & a run-up of no more than 6 yards.
  7. One run awarded for each wide bowled to a maximum of 4 in any one over. The bowler to continue until 6 fair balls are bowled.
  8. Appeals for LBW will be frowned upon.
  9. All batsmen must retire after scoring 25 runs. If one of the last pair of batsmen is out, the other batsman may bat on to his maximum of 25.
  10. Points: 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie or draw and 0 points for a loss.
  11. All efforts should be made to obtain a result (higher score, less wickets, less overs bowled and less extras).
  12. If bad weather stops play, a waiting period to be observed at the captains' discretion before the game is abandoned. Such games should be re-scheduled unless the captains agree to resolve result otherwise. Failing this, points shall be shared.
  13. A separate Knockout Competition will be played among the top eight teams at the conclusion of the League Competition. A player may play for only one team & must have played for it in the league.
  14. Conduct: Captains shall be responsible for disciplining their own players for unseemly conduct. Written statements concerning misconduct or unfair play will be received by the Midweek League Fairness Committee (c/o President) only within 7 days of the incident.
  15. Helmets must be worn by all batsmen under 21 years of age. Each club's equipment must include a legal cricket helmet.
