Enter / Modify Match Results

Overview

Entering match results are done in screens that are in divided in Tabs design to mimic the layout, look and feel of the score book. Users depending on the preference of their league/ association will enter as much or as little information as is in their score book or their match card. The more information captured and entered from the score sheets the more meaningful and detail reports can be displayed. The onus is on the individuals) entering the data to ensure that they spend the small amount of time (10-20 minutes) per game required to do a proper and complete entry. In addition timely entry of the results is vital to ensure that visitors to the web site are receiving the most up to date, timely and complete information.

It is the responsibility of the captains to ensure that both the match card and the online results are complete.
Captains must ensure that all relevant fields on the match cards are filled in properly. In addition it is the primary responsibility of entering the information online rest with the home team. However, if the home team does not input the information then the away team also have access to enter the results.

Please note also, once filled in the match card is the property of the league and the umpires are responsible to fax the card into the league. Under no circumstances should the captain take the card from the umpire after a game. If the match sheets are sent in with incomplete or missing key data then the league statistician with not have enough information to validate entry by the clubs. Therefore the results will not be approve and the statistical report for your players will not be updated.

The data entered in these screens once approved by the league automatically updates several other reports such, League Standings for all divisions and conferences. All statistical reports:
- Batting
- Bowling
- Fielding
- Team Summary
- Most Ducks
- Personal career stats

Only the Game Summary report and Match Review will display results that are not yet approved by the League Statistician.

Validation Rules

To ensure that the data entered is correct there are several validation rules built in. Violations of some of these rules are visible right away as soon as the conditions exist. These violations are denoted with the colour Red and Yellow. Red means that the error will prevent the results from being approved by the league until it is fix. Yellow means you have an error but it will not prevent the result from being approved.

Red denotes the critical errors that compromises the integrity of the batting and bowling statistical figures, while yellow denotes the lesser but equally important stats such # of catches, partnerships etc.

The batting and bowling figures are validated against the information entered on the summary tab. Example, the number of overs on the bowling tab must equal the total on the summary tab. While catches are validated against the how out options on the bowling tab. Another example is if you have 8 wickets on the summary tab, then you must have 8 players with how out selected on the bowling tab.

There is also a final validation that will be done by the League Statistician. This feature is enabled by clicking on the validate button on the Score Summary tab Once all the violations are cleared the match details can be approved by the League Statistician.

There are three statuses available for each result:
Incomplete (Scores are still being entered by the Clubs)
Unofficial (clubs has finish entering the scores and is waiting for the league to approve the results)
Approved (Match details are approved and lock by the League Statistician)

Approve / Lock Match details

Once the league statistician have received the match card and has reviewed the online entry he will approve the match result. Approving means that no further modification will be allowed for that game.
