United Victoria CC win 2009 Colonist Cup

United Victoria CC defeated Albion CC at Beacon Hill Park to claim the 2009 Colonist Cup.

Albion: 81 all out in 38 Overs
Batting: Adrian Birkatt 23, Nagy Thomas 14
Bowling: Tanzil Rehman 6/19

United Victoria: 85/2 in 13 Overs
Batting: Nadim Mir 47, Sunny Saini 15
Bowling: Tony 2/16

Man of the Match: Tanzil Rehman of United Victoria

United opening bowlers Atif Khan and Omer Khan bowled to a tight line and length and made it hard for the batsman to play their shots. Albion was 27/1 after 10 overs but things changed once Tanzil Rehman was introduced to the attack. Tanzil bowled with excellent pace and swing and picked up regular wickets. He finished off with the excellent bowling figures of 9-19-6.

All United bowlers bowled great spells, giving no chances to the batsmen to free up their arms, and were supported with great fielding throughout, running through Albion for only 81 runs.

After a cautious start Nadim Mir moved into his natural game, playing shots all around the ground and quickly finished the game in the 13th over with a six.

Special thanks to Tony Cox and David Norrish for umpiring the game.

United Victoria has now won three cups in 2009: Payne Cup, World Cup (as Pakistan), and Colonist Cup.
